3 ways to treat acne scars

By January 1, 1970Uncategorized

Acne scars needn’t be something you carry throughout life – countless products are now available over-the-counter or through a dermatologist to help fade them. Here’s how to treat everything from uneven skin to discolouration…

If your skin is rough from cystic acne…

Scars on the cheeks and forehead can make skin appear uneven. Microdermabrasion is a great treatment as it can help to remove the outer layer of the skin using light abrasion to smooth out any rough areas. If you want to know more about this treatment why not book in for a free consultation?

If your skin has brown or red discoloration…

An acid based serum is a great solution for this concern. Acne can cause scarring and discolouration that may fade naturally, however sometimes a helping hand is needed. If the discoloration is red or brown, it’s not technically a scar. It’s more prolonged inflammation in the area that may lead to scarring later on. Try products with salicylic acid in them to help speed up the removal of dead skin cells and diminish discolouration.

If your scars are difficult to hide…

Mask them with a full coverage foundation. The inflammation and redness from acne can be tricky to hide. Jane Iredale’s Glow Time BB Cream is a full coverage foundation, but feels light weight on the skin. It is a skin-smoothing antioxidant it exfoliates, refines and rejuvenates the skin. As a bonus it also minimises the appearance of pores and wrinkles.
